Where to do this in Chat4U
  1. Project
  2. Settings
  3. Privacy

Conversation retention and visitor disclosure are project settings. Open the Privacy tab before changing either control.

Open Chat4U

Use Settings → Privacy in the target project for its customer-facing privacy controls. These settings are intentionally separate from internal privacy and platform operations. Workspace owners and administrators can edit them; other members can review the current configuration but cannot save changes.

What you’ll accomplish

Set the project’s retention and visitor disclosure deliberately. Chat4U provides controls and evidence; your organization remains responsible for its lawful notice, consent, and data practices.

Set the visitor-facing controls

  1. Choose future conversation retentionIn Settings → Privacy, select the available inactivity period and save.
This applies after the applicable published cutover; it does not change existing conversations. If automatic retention is not enabled for the service environment, the selected period does not itself delete conversations.
  2. Set the widget disclosureEnter the data-controller name or use the project name, then add a public HTTPS privacy-policy URL when you provide one.
    Save in the same tab.
  3. Test it in the installed widgetConfirm the intended project’s widget shows the current disclosure before a visitor’s first message.
A policy link appears alongside the Chat4U Privacy Notice when you provide one.

When enabled for the service environment, the widget shows these disclosure details before a visitor’s first message. Your policy link appears alongside the Chat4U Privacy Notice when you provide one. You remain responsible for the disclosures, consent model, and notices required for your own site and use case.

Find canonical public information

Use the public Chat4U site—not copied dashboard text or internal records—for current notices and commercial information:

Limitations

  • Project retention controls are not a retroactive deletion tool and do not replace applicable legal holds, backup handling, or statutory obligations.
  • A widget disclosure supports transparency but does not establish all notices, consent, or lawful basis required for your deployment.
  • The public legal and pricing pages are canonical and may change; do not rely on screenshots or historical summaries for current commitments.
