The official Chat4U Website Assistant plugin is available on WordPress.org. Use it to connect public content and place your assistant on your website.

WordPress.com sites need a hosting plan that permits plugin installation. Multisite and headless installations are currently unsupported. Page builders and multilingual sites use their public rendered content; check the imported coverage rather than assuming every plugin combination has been certified.

1. Install the native pluginIn WordPress, open Plugins → Add Plugin and install Chat4U Website Assistant.

   Install and activate the official Chat4U Website Assistant plugin. If it has not appeared in directory search yet, download its ZIP from that page, then use Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin. No theme edits are needed.

2. Sign in or create your accountOpen Settings → Chat4U, review the connection disclosure and select Connect to Chat4U.

   Choose Create an account if you are new, or Sign in to Chat4U to use your existing account. Registration and sign-in use Chat4U's usual secure account screens and return you to this website setup. If you use more than one account, choose the one that owns the intended workspace.

3. Choose your workspace and projectUse an existing project or create a workspace and project here.

   Search your workspaces and projects. Chat4U suggests a project whose website address matches; review the suggestion before continuing. New customers can create a workspace, confirm the prefilled website details and choose from the available plans. Your existing subscription stays with its project. Completing an account registration does not activate a paid plan.

4. Choose the assistant and its displaySelect your assistant and confirm Show this assistant on my website.

   Chat4U adds this WordPress source to the selected assistant without removing its other knowledge or changing other assistants. With plugin 0.3.0 or later, confirm Connect and show assistant to apply the display setting automatically. You do not normally need a second Enable or Save step in WordPress. Clear the display choice if you want to keep the assistant off for now.

   No assistant yet? Connect your content and continue to assistant setup. You will confirm showing it when its settings are ready. Appearance, privacy notice and optional lead capture remain in Chat4U.

5. Check the Knowledge sourcePublic pages, posts, public custom content and translations enter one shared source.

   Open Knowledge to review imported records, exclusions and records waiting for word capacity. You can continue setup with the complete records that fit. See WordPress knowledge and recovery.

6. Check the published websiteOpen the public HTTPS site while signed out of WordPress.

   Open the published site from the setup screen and check one assistant on desktop and a narrow screen. The setup distinguishes saved choices, WordPress confirmation and a reported assistant load. An existing eligible assistant can use its other knowledge while the WordPress import is pending or waiting for space. Test a public fact from an imported page once that knowledge is ready.

Keep a manual installation

If you only need widget placement, the generated widget snippet remains available. Use your site's managed script-injection method or ask the person who maintains the theme to add it. Manual placement alone does not connect WordPress content or enable native updates. Keep only one placement active.

If setup finds the same assistant in an existing embed, it offers Keep existing placement. A different or unrecognized embed needs your review. Remove the old snippet where you installed it if you want the native plugin to manage placement.

Upgrade an existing connection

Update the Chat4U plugin to use the combined setup controls. An older connection may ask you to open WordPress → Settings → Chat4U → Connect to Chat4U once to approve those controls. Choose the same project; its content and subscription remain in place. This confirmation is an upgrade exception, not the normal final step for a new connection.

On plugin versions before 0.3.0, select the assistant in Chat4U and enable Show widget on this website in WordPress settings. A later display change made in WordPress takes priority over an older setup request. Review and confirm a new choice in Chat4U when you want to change it again.
