Native integration is being prepared. Follow these steps when Integrations → Website platforms enables Shopify for your project. App Store distribution, data access and provider approval are separate from the presence of these instructions.
Chat4U opens as a standalone application. Manage store knowledge, assistants and project billing in the Chat4U platform; Shopify handles app installation, permissions and approval of charges. Opening an already linked store returns to its authorized project after sign-in, without importing the store again.
Connect the project
When creating a project for a Shopify store, choose Shopify as its knowledge source. This connects the native store instead of crawling its website. For an existing project, start in Integrations → Website platforms.
Choose the store in ShopifyOpen Integrations → Website platforms in the intended Chat4U project, then Open Shopify.
Choose your store and install Chat4U in Shopify. Open Chat4U from Shopify's Apps menu and follow the secure project link. Chat4U displays the verified store. If you do not have a Chat4U account, create one; otherwise sign in. Your store setup is kept through both actions. When the Shopify sign-in option is offered, you can use your linked Shopify identity.
Choose your workspace, then an authorized project. Use search for project names or domains. An exact storefront-domain match can suggest a project, but you still confirm the destination. A server-reserved reconnect stays with its existing project. In the account setup screen, Change workspace lets an existing merchant switch teams before continuing.
For an existing project, choose the Storefront assistant, make the displayed uninstall-history choice, then select Connect store and assistant. Choosing the assistant attaches the shared store source without removing its other knowledge. If you start from Shopify's Chat4U listing, you can also create the project after signing in.
A new project does not need an assistant yet. Continue setup and approve its subscription in Shopify when prompted. If the installation link is unavailable, follow the recovery shown in Website platforms; there is no manual store-address form.
Confirm the Knowledge sourceThe store becomes one shared source automatically.
The completion screen shows store connection, Knowledge availability, assistant access and storefront activation separately. A linked store can still be preparing its content or waiting for plan access. Published products, variants, pages and policies import without a per-product or per-page selection step. Open Knowledge to inspect records and choose which assistants can use the source. Schema-based store knowledge does not require Advanced processing.
Activate and check the widgetEnable the Store assistant app embed in your published Shopify theme.
Use the installation guide. Check a real visitor chat on the published storefront, rather than treating a theme preview or loader request as proof of a complete installation.
Each project can have one website platform connection across providers. Linking a store occupies that project's slot. Finish or cancel any earlier unfinished setup before connecting a different website. Reconnecting, pausing updates, removing the Knowledge source, turning shopping switches off or losing plan access keeps the connection. Other projects in the workspace have independent slots.
An external store installation can be actively linked to only one project at a time. If it belongs to another project, manage the existing connection there before switching. A project’s connection does not automatically transfer another project’s source, conversations or assignments.
Make shopping settings useful
Shopping assistance controls product cards, cart help and checkout handoff. Make changes, then choose Save changes. Cancel discards the local draft. These settings apply to website chats; social conversations continue with text replies.
Selecting the website assistant attaches the shared store source automatically. Removing that attachment from Knowledge or the assistant shows an impact warning and stops its store answers and shopping help. Ordinary connection saves do not undo a deliberate removal; use the offered reconnect action. If the storefront assistant is deleted, the connection remains saved; choose a replacement. Saved shopping preferences are retained while access or synchronization is blocked.
Remove knowledge or disconnect the store
Removing the source in Knowledge deletes that source’s indexed records and assignments while retaining the store connection. Automatic updates do not recreate it. Use Add store knowledge from Website platforms when you deliberately want it back.
For a project billed through Shopify, Disconnect Shopify and cancel renewal stops native updates and shopping actions immediately and separately confirms subscription cancellation. Check Chat4U → Billing & Usage for the verified renewal state and any remaining paid access. An interrupted request does not prove that renewal stopped. The website slot and credentials can remain reserved while billing closure is unresolved. Removing store knowledge alone does not cancel renewal.
Uninstalling the Shopify app also invalidates store access. Chat4U reconciles the exact installation and billing state; reinstalling does not automatically resume a canceled subscription or restart a trial.
See Shopify project billing. If a save result cannot be confirmed, use Check saved connection before trying again. Chat4U checks the saved result and keeps earlier settings while it is uncertain. A link confirmation alone does not prove that import or storefront activation has finished.
Reinstalling or reconnecting requires fresh authorization and a current project link. Late events and unfinished old work cannot restore a deleted source or overwrite the new connection.
