  1. Project
  2. Billing

Review the Shopify-billed project plan, capacity, message credits and saved approvals. Confirm changes in Shopify and check their effective status in Chat4U.

What you’ll accomplish

Use this guide when the project's Billing page identifies Shopify as its billing provider. Review the plans, purchases and current status shown there before taking a billing action.

One project, one billing provider

Shopify billing pays for the project's shared Chat4U plan and add-ons. It does not create a separate social subscription or usage balance. Other projects can use Paddle. Existing Paddle subscriptions and history cannot be transferred to Shopify: choose a separate project without Paddle billing for the store connection.

Owners and admins manage purchases in Chat4U and approve charges in Shopify. Members can review their plan and usage but cannot authorize billing changes. Payment details remain in the provider's checkout; do not send card details or full approval links to Chat4U support.

Subscriptions and changes

Shopify recurring plans use a 30-day billing cycle. Annual plans and automatic credit recharge are not offered through Shopify. Read the current and proposed recurring totals, effective date and any amount due before approving.

Paid increases take effect after verification, with Shopify determining proration. Reductions take effect at the displayed renewal boundary. A change containing both can require two approvals; if only the first is approved, the completed increase remains effective and the reduction is not yet scheduled. Billing shows the actual approved result.

An eligible trial is disclosed before approval. Changing the base plan does not restart the trial or reset consumed usage. Reinstalling the app or creating another project cannot give the same store a fresh trial. Capacity is paid separately from trial eligibility; use only the purchase options offered in Billing.

Shopify can mark a replacement active before its next-cycle price takes effect. Chat4U uses the verified effective date to apply reductions; a browser return or status label alone does not reset your allowance.

Credits and capacity

Message-credit and Operator Unit packs are explicit one-time purchases. Chat4U adds the exact purchased units once Shopify confirms successful invoicing. An approval page, pending charge or declined purchase adds no units. A purchase can remain Confirming while Chat4U verifies it; check its saved status before opening another checkout.

Recurring indexed capacity is a continuing knowledge limit, not a consumable credit balance. Its renewal shares the Shopify subscription's cycle. Removing a capacity component can require a knowledge-capacity review if current use exceeds the remaining limit. Source access and usage remain project-specific.

During a base-plan trial, approving a future recurring capacity price does not make that capacity free. Billing can offer a separate prorated one-time purchase through the original trial end. It becomes available only after Shopify confirms invoicing. Delayed approval does not extend the end date; a purchase invoiced after that date needs billing help instead of adding expired capacity.

Reducing future capacity keeps capacity already purchased for the remaining trial. A later increase charges only the additional unpurchased quantity. At the verified start of the paid subscription period, recurring capacity replaces the expired trial purchase. The two are not added together.

Cancel, remove knowledge or disconnect

Cancel renewal stops future subscription renewal after provider confirmation. Verified unused paid access remains until the displayed end date; cancellation does not refund a previous charge or replenish usage. Resubscribing can require a new approval: review its actual charge and timing rather than assuming an instant undo.

Remove store knowledge removes indexed store information and assistant assignments while keeping the connection and billing. Disconnect Shopify and cancel renewal immediately disables store updates and shopping tools and separately closes renewal. Check Billing if cancellation is still being confirmed. Uninstalling and reconnecting do not restore deleted knowledge or resume a canceled subscription automatically.

Purchased pack balances remain recorded. Their usability still follows the project's current plan and access state; cancellation does not move units to another project.

Payment problems, invoices and refunds

App charges appear on your Shopify bill. Shopify's app billing cycle and the store's invoice cycle can differ. Use Shopify billing details for actual invoices and payment methods. If Shopify freezes billing, Chat4U restricts paid access; the Paddle 72-hour failed-payment policy does not apply.

For a Shopify app-charge refund or an incorrect Chat4U charge, contact support@chat4u.ai with the store, project and charge reference. A Shopify app credit, refund and Chat4U usage credit are different things. Cancellation does not itself issue a refund, and a financial adjustment changes service or units only when its exact allocation is verified.
